Srinagar: With people craving for the renovation of their roads especially in Srinagar outskirts, the frequent rainfall in the Valley as per the top officials is hampering the macadamizing process.

The locals from various Srinagar areas especially from its outskirts including Padshahi Bagh to Lasjan areas said the roads as well as the link roads in their areas have developed potholes, causing immense hardships to the commuters while passing through the road.

They said that authorities have been assuring that the macadamization process will begin soon, but no step has been taken in this regard so far.

The local residents here have demanded immediate redressal of their genuine grievances.

However, the officials in the Roads and Building (R&B) department blamed the frequent rainfall for the snail’s pace of macadamization process.

They said the roads would have been macadamized but the prevalent weather condition was not permissible, thus halting the process.

Chief Engineer Roads and Building (R&B) Kashmir division, Sami Arif Yasvi told Indian News Service (INS) that the macadamization process has already been started after May 15 but is being frequently hampered by the uneven weather conditions.

He said that the frequent rainfall is forcing the department to stop the macadamization process for at least two days. “We are on it and the main roads are being macadamized at present. As soon as the main roads will be macadamized, the interior roads will be macadamized but the improvement in weather conditions is must to end the macadamization process on time,” he added.
