Srinagar: In a major decision aimed to promote the health of children and provide them adequate healthcare facilities, the SAC which met here on 29.05.2019 under the chairmanship of Governor Satya Pal Malik has approved conversion of entire 200-bedded Maternity Hospital and 300-bedded Pediatrics Hospital at Bemina, Srinagar into a full-fledged 500-bedded Children Hospital.
Provision of quality childcare health facilities at Srinagar which witnesses rush from other districts has been a long standing demand of general public in particular those who are not able to afford the same in private centers.
Keeping this in view, SAC accorded sanction for utilization of new hospital complex constructed at Bemina Srinagar under Central assistance to establish 200-bedded Maternity Hospital and 300-bedded Pediatrics Hospital towards full-fledged 500-bedded children hospital.
As regards the Maternity Hospital, the services/facilities at L.D Hospital Srinagar have already been strengthened to meet the requirements. One 200-bedded additional block has already been constructed and made functional and second 200-bedded additional block has been approved under World Bank assistance.
