Markets abuzz with shoppers ahead of Eid in Kashmir

Srinagar: With Eid-ul-Fitr just a few days away, Sunday saw enthusiastic shoppers thronging marketplaces in Srinagar and leading markets in district headquarters to buy everything from household items to bakery and even gold and silver.
The markets in this summer capital of the city and elsewhere in the Kashmir are wearing a festive look as people are busy shopping for Eid-ul-Fitr being celebrated this week to mark the end of the holy fasting month of Ramazan.
Massive traffic jams were being witnessed in some of the routes in the city and elsewhere as people were thronging markets. The footpath vendors have set up their stalls on the roadside ahead of the Eid. Shops selling garments, clothes, shoes and eatables like bakery products are witnessing heavy rush, prompting many to engage more salesmen. Some bakery shops have also set up roadside stalls to accommodate huge rush of the buyers.
The weekly ‘Sunday market’ from TRC Junction to Hari Singh High Street saw hue rush of shoppers.
The flea market offers clothes, accessories, kids wear, home decoration and utensils to the shoppers at relative cheap rates.
Gonikhan market, which is popular for women and children items, was also jam-packed as the day progressed. Also people were seen buying gold and silver at specific markets in Srinagar.
Reports of Eid shoppers thronging the markets was also received from other district headquarters of the Valley.
