Cremation land encroached, illegal constructions raised in Anantnag; authorities’ unmoved

Anantnag: The authorities are acting like mute spectators as illegal constructions are going unabated in this south Kashmir south Kashmir district
According to sources illegal shops have been constructed by people in KP road Muslim Abad area of Anantnag town. And if are to believed, these shops have come up on government land and cremation ground (Shamshanghat) near KP road. Interestingly, the constructions are a few miles away from the District office Anantnag.
“The revenue officials have failed to stop these illegal constructions. It seems that they are hand in glove with the encroachers,” sources said.
Also these illegal constructions were being done by the influential people and as such are not being touched by them.
An official while talking to the INS said that a migrant Pandit community complained to Municipal committee office Anantnag a week ago that a patch of cremation land has been encroached upon by some people at KP road, Muslim Abad, in Anantnag town. Soon after receiving the information, some officials of the committee made the spot inspection but no action followed it despite a report being forwarded to Tehsildar Anantnag for further action.
Sources added that the Pandit community also wants demarcation the patch of cremation land.
