Zakir Moosa laid to rest in ancestral graveyard, clashes in various parts of Kashmir

Srinagar: Amid massive anti-India, pro-freedom and pro-Islam sloganeering slain AGH militant commander was buried at his ancestral graveyard in Noorpora Tral on Friday.

“There was a massive throng at his native village,” locals said, adding that following multiple funeral prayers Zakir Rashid Bhat alias Moosa was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard.

Thousands of people participated in his last rites in the region with vehicles parked in nearby villages as streets were swarming with people thronging to Bhat’s residence.

Soon after the Friday prayers ended clashes broke out in various parts of Kashmir against Moosa’s killing.

Protesters clashed with government forces in Sopore in Baramulla district while in Kupwara clashes erupted in main town Kupwara, Batergama and Trehgam.

Various places in south Kashmir witnessed protests and clashes to which forces responded with using tear gas canisters and pellet guns.

In Sopore, one youth identified as Irfan Ahmad was hospitalised following, him sustaining injuries in clashes.

Irfan was later shifted from Sub District Hospital to Srinagar for advanced treatment.

In Anantnag, Police and CRPF’s 40 btln came under stone pelting by protesting youth in Ahsjipora. Forces retaliated with tear gas shelling.

Clashes were going on when last reports came in.

“Intense clashes are going on at Charsoo area on highway,” reports said, claiming forces resorted to aerial firing and used tear gas to disperse protesters.

Moosa was killed in an 11 hour long gunfight in Tral area.
