Rains lash Kashmir, dry weather forecast from tomorrow

Srinagar: Rains lashed most parts of Kashmir Valley overnight even as mercury rose above sub-zero level in Gulmarg, the world famous skiing resort. The weatherman also forecast ‘mainly dry’ weather from tomorrow.
A meteorological department official said that Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 8.6 degrees Celsius last night against 6.1 degrees Celsius normal for this time of the season. The summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir received 2.4mm of rain overnight, he said.
The official said that Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded a low of 8.0 degrees Celsius and had a rainfall of 1mm while the mercury in Kokernag town in south Kashmir settled at a low of 7.1 degrees Celsius and it had 0.4mm of rains.
Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a minimum of 4.3 degrees Celsius and had rainfall of 18.1mm, highest in entire Valley. Gulmarg, the famous ski-resort in north Kashmir, witnessed a low of 1.5 degrees Celsius and rainfall of 3.6mm while the famous health resort of Pahalgam recorded a minimum of 4.0 degrees Celsius and rainfall of 0.6mm.
“(There is possibility of) light rain/thunder in Kashmir Valley and Pirpanjal range of J&K today. Mainly dry weather from tomorrow,” the official added.
