AMU suspends Kashmiri student over ‘objectionable tweet’

Srinagar: A Kashmiri youth have been supended by Aligarh Muslim University authorities on Friday after he posted“highly objectionable tweet” following deadly attack on CRPF convoy in Pulwama that left 44 troopers dead.

The student has been identified as Basim Hilal and according to Omar Saleem Peerzada, AMU PRO the action against him was taken against him over his ‘highly objectionable tweet’.

“Taking immediate cognizance the student has been suspended by the university administration,” he was quoted in media reports.

Hilal was pursuing  BSc Mathematics at AMU.

The report said that an FIR has been registered against Basim Hilal for his tweet. “He has been booked under section 153A IPC and Section 67A of the IT Act.”
