Srinagar: Police on Monday barred journalists from visiting the house of Maqbool Bhat’s residence at Mirpor Trehgam area in Kupwara district of north Kashmir.
Police has erected naka at Kralpora Kupwara road and is disallowing journalists from moving towards Maqbool’s house.
Several Journalits on way to Bhats residence were not allowed to move towards their house.
His brother is in Jail and only his mother and sister live at their house.
Journalists told INS that police has told them that they will be allowed to travel to his residence after noon prayers or evening prayers.
Chief spokesperson for journalist fraternity in Kupwara, Ashraf Charag, was also stopped from visiting the house.
“We condemned the act of forces of not  allowing the journalist to perform their professional duties,” Charag said.
“The freedom of press shouldn’t be limited while performing professional duties, we urge authorities to take serious note of this highhandedness  of disallowing Journalits from performing their professional duties,it shouldn’t happen again,” President  Journalist Fraternity kupwara Fayaz Hameed said.
