3 militants killed as gunfight at Hapat Naalah Budgam ends

Srinagar: Three militant of Hizbul Mujahideen outfit were killed in an encounter with government forces at Hapat Naalah area in Charar-e-Shareef area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday.
Reports said that a joint team of army and police, acting on credible input about presence of some militants, cordoned off Hapat Naalah area early on Monday.
As the joint team approached towards a suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering off a gunfight.
During the course of gunfight, three militants belonging to Hizbul Mujahideen outfit were killed. However identity of the slain militants has not been ascertained yet, the officer said. “Based on the incriminating material recovered, the militants belonged to Hizb-ul-Mujahideen. Their identity is being ascertained,” the officer said. Meanwhile, the internet remained suspended in the entire Budgam district.
