Tral : A service water reservoir constructed by the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department at Chewa Ullar village in Tral area of south Kashmir is lying defunct since six years.
Locals said that it was constructed six years ago in 2013 with a purpose to store water for the distribution to different areas of Tral including Chewa Ullar, Mandoora, and Razak Shah areas.
“The water reserviour was constructed with the main objective to store water, but after its completion, it was not made functional,” Aadil Ashraf, a local told INS.
He further said that a bore well was also constructed to link it with the said reservoir, but that too stopped working with no intervention from concerned authorities.
Assistant Executive Engineer, Public Health Engineering, department Tral, Nisar Ahmad Kar, told INS that : “The SR (service reservoir) was constructed by the PHE Department and it is defunct as discharge in Bore well, which is considered as its main part, was not sufficient that time.”
Kar further said that, they have created another bore well with that discharge level is sufficient now.
“We did dug another bore well to start the said reservoir and a DPR has been made. I have already sent the proposal to higher officials. As soon we get response, we may proceed for its functioning again,” Kar added.
