Shopian firing: Youth’s condition with bullet injury in head critical

Srinagar: The condition of a youth among the five injured civilians with bullet injuries , shifted to SHMS here, has been stated to be critical even as six other persons have suffered pellet wounds near Shopian’s Sugan, the native village of Zeenat-ul-Islam, the top Al-Badr commander who was killed along with his associate in Yaipora area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
The critically wounded person has been identified as Bilal Ahmad Wani and he has suffered bullet injury in head.
Bilal Wani, a resident of Batnoor, along with other four injured persons including Sameer Dar of Chatragam Zainapora and Mehraj-ud-Din of Sugan have also been admitted to SMHS. Six more youth have also suffered pellet injuries and also a girl identified as Shoki, it by Casper vehicle, wounded. All of them have been hospitalized.
On Saturday, Zeenat-ul-Islam alias Dr Usman and his associate Shakeel Ahmad Dar were caught unawares as Army’s 34 Rashtriya Rifles personnel came in sumo vehicles and cordoned off the kathpora village in Yaripora.
The SOG of J&K Police and the CRPF joined the army before encounter with the hiding militants was established, officials said. There was a brief exchange of fire, leading to the killing of Zeenat-ul-Islam (30), listed in police records as category A++ militant and carried a bounty of Rs 12.5 lakh on his head.
