Tral: In wake of recent killing of Sikh youth in Tral by unknown gunmen, a meeting between the members Sikh and Muslim community was held on Saturday in Tral sub division of South Kashmir.
On that occasion, scores of Sikhs and Muslims assembled inside the townhall Tral, where they discussed and condemned the killing of Sikh youth by unknown persons.
People from both the communities said that “it is an attempt to harm communal harmony among the Muslims and Sikhs in Tral.”
They said that “such attempts are unfortunate and should be stopped in future to secure the brotherhood.”
Talking to INS, President Sikh Morcha Front, Dr. Joginder Singh Shaan Kashmiri, condemned the killing of youth and said that “some elements are trying to harm our decades back brotherhood which won’t be tolerated.”
He said that “we are here with our Muslims brothers from decades and will remain here forever with them.”
Praising the hurriyat leaders for their support, J.S. Shaan that, “from Chattisingpora incident to Tral incident, hurriyat always extended their support towards sikhs.”
Meanwhile, a delegation of civil society and trade union, present in the meeting, also expressed their support towards the sikhs and said that “we are living like btothers and will always maintain our brotherhood”
General Secretary, Civil Society Tral, Ashraf Wani, said that, “meeting was called by sikh morcha front, and we came to support them as they are the part of our society”
Earlier, Joint resistance leadership (JRL) in a statement, also condemned the killing and said “many attempts were made to trigger a sectarian wedge and Sikh community was targeting time and again but they always stood shoulder to shoulder with the majority community and the ongoing freedom struggle.”
