Srinagar: One may possibly be not faulted if he chooses to liken Srinagar Municipal Corporations snow clearance to “Flop Show”, famous sitcom written and directed by satirical humorist late Jaspal Bhatti.
The SMC cleared patches of snow in front of mosques and ration depots and left the lanes snow inundated in most parts of Old Srinagar.
“When we asked them (SMC officials) why snow is not being cleared, their response was that they are following instructions from higher ups,” said Gulzar Ahmad, a resident of Amda Kadal Srinagar.
Bashir Ahmad, a resident Bhagwanpora termed the SMC action was bizarre and unprecedented.
“I have never seen something of the sort in past,” he said. “There is no point in clearing snow near the mosque or ration depot when one cannot reach there. At-least they should have made the pathway,” he added.
Despite attempts, no concerned official of SMC could be contacted for the comment.
