Srinagar: Kashmir High Court Bar Association on Thursday demanded filing of criminal case by Himachal Pradesh police against all those who attacked the Kashmiri shopkeepers at Shimla recently.
In a statement issued here, the Bar Association strongly condemns the attack on Kashmiri shopkeepers by certain “communal elements” in Shimla and termed it as a sinister design aimed at not to allow them to conduct their business in the Himachal Pradesh and force them to leave the capital o the northern Indian state.
It said though thousands of outsiders are working as labourers etc. in J&K, they have never been maltreated or harassed, by anyone in the State.
“Earlier also, Kashmiri students studying in different colleges and universities, throughout India, have also been attacked, harassed and humiliated and most of them had to abandon their studies and return home, for safety,” the lawyers’ body said and demanded Shimla police to register criminal cases against all those, who have attacked the Kashmiri shopkeepers and besides prosecuting and punishing them. “They should also ensure that Kashmiri shopkeepers are not harassed by anyone and they are
allowed to conduct their business, in the State without any threat to their life and property.”
