Police solves Soura hit and run case, accused arrested

Srinagar: Police on Monday said that they have solved a hit and run case in which one person was killed at at 90 feet road near Soura on November 26. The accused in the case has been arrested.

Police spokesman said that on Monday, 26.11.2018,a pedestrian was mowed down by an unknown vehicle at 90 feet road near Soura who was brought dead to skims. He was identified as Abdul Hameed Lone s/o Late Ab Ahad Lone R/o Shahi Hamdan colony Ahmadnagar Srinagar,” spokesman said.

He said that during investigating at the accident spot, eye witnesses confirmed the vehicle as 207 Tata mobile white colour.

“During further investigation Police station soura, scanned the CCTV footage from nearby ATM’s and shops to check the registration number of vehicle, however the footage couldn’t show much in detail. After in-depth investigation, and help from various sources the police was successful in locating the driver,” he said.

SHO Soura Shahnawaz Ahmad said that the accused has been identified as Mehraj u din Shalbaf son of Ali Mohammed Resident of Umerhair Buchpora and vehicle registered as JK01M 2575 .

The police have taken the accused into custody for further proceedings.
