Hilly villages of Pulwama face acute water shortage, use water from stream

Pulwama: Inhabitants of hilly villages in of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district have accused PHE department of neglecting the area in providing them with portable drinking water.

Villagers including Sangerwani, Anderwali and Pathri, hilly villages told INS that the area faced water crices as PHE department ignored this kandi belt.

“There is no water facility scheme for this hilly areas  while all lines of water supply passing through the villages for different areas but they do not supply water to Anderwali villages,”a resident told INS.

According to a resident Kaiser Ahmad Khan they have been using water from stream for washing, drinking purposes,  ‘but post snowfall the road to stream has been blocked  and water crisis has hit the villages badly.
“A water supply scheme was sanction to village but due to callous approach of PHE which is under construction from last 5 years. We requested administration to complete so that we can get water from it and we can have a sigh of relief,” they said.
Xen PHE Pulwama,Bashir Ahmad said that they will look into this matter and promised that the villagers will get portable water soon.
