BY BASHARAT RASHID
Pampore: Truck drivers on Tuesday staged a protest demonstration at Lethpora area of Pampore against the Food Corporation of India (FCI) for failing to unload their loaded trucks from past “one month.”
Drivers from Jammu, Kashmir and Punjab, while protesting said that they are stranded with loaded vehicles in Lethpora from last “one month” as their trucks are yet to be unloaded by FCI department despite back to requests from truckers.
The protestors said that their requests for unloading the trucks turned into deaf ears as according to them only “fake assurances are being made” from concerned department besides “number of trucks are being illegally unloaded without their turn”
“FCI failed to unload our trucks even after 30 days, due to which we suffer. We appeal to the Director FCI to intevene in this regards, so that the sufferings of truckers would get stopped,” a truck driver, Zahoor Ahmad told INS.
The protestors were chanting slogans and requested concerned authorities to look into the matter.
However, an official from FCI, Prabho Dayal, said that, he is unaware of this and assured that he will look into the matter.
He said that, this all might be happening in his absence.
