Amarnath Yatra: Mock drill conducted at Pahalgam to meet eventuality

SRINAGAR: In view of ensuing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra commencing from 29th of June, a mock drill exercise on disaster management and mitigation was conducted at Pahalgam by the teams of Fire & Emergency Department, NDRF, SDRF and CRPF under guideline of National Disaster Management Authority, New Delhi and State Disaster Management Authority J&K.
Rtd Major General V.K Dutta, Sr. Consultant NDMA, Mr Aamir Ali Mir, Director SDMA J&K Srinagar, Mr. Farooq Ahmad, DySP NDRF, Deputy Director Fire & Emergency, Medical Officer Pahalgam, Executive Officer MC Pahalgam and other stake holders besides a large number of civilians attended the exercise.
The mock drill which was conducted at Nunwan base camp covered the activities like, management of blast hitting a vehicle carrying yatris, landslides, terrorist attack, cloudbursts and other exercises.
Pertinent to mention that a three-day table-top mock drill exercise was conducted at Dak Bungalow Anantnag from 21st to 23rd June, 2017 to sensitize the officers and rescue & operation teams about the precautionary measures being taken for averting any natural disaster. Besides, they were also apprised about the Do’s and Don’ts.
