KCCI election: Counting Concludes, Results To be Declared On Saturday

KCCI Votes To Elect Executive Committee, Sees 83% Turnout

Srinagar: The Kashmir Chamber Commerce and Industry (KCCI) concluded on Monday counting of votes polled recently to elect its executive committee members.
Sources said, preliminary results indicate that majority of the elected members are from the “United 21” group which was contesting the polls against “Credible 21” group.
The final results would be officially declared in the 84th Annual General Meeting of the Chamber scheduled to be held on September 29 at the SKICC Srinagar. The office bearers of the Chamber would be elected at the meeting.
A member of “United 21” group said the group led by Sheikh Ashiq and Nasir Hamid Khan are considering to appeal before the election commission of the KCCI for re-evaluation of around 60 votes which has to be decided by the election commission.
Members of KCCI on Saturday voted to elect Executive Committee of the traders’ body and the election saw 83 percent turnout.
Of the 1305 members, 1082 (83%) cast their votes personally. The Election process was carried out under overall supervision of the Election Commission of the KCC&I consisting of Rauf Ahmad Punjabi (Chairman), Dr. Mubeen Shah (Member) and Abdul Hamid Punjabi (Member).
