Pulwama: A top militant commander of Jash-e-Mohammad outfit was killed and a soldier injured in a gunfight at Tral in this south Kashmir district on Sunday.
Reports and sources said that a joint team of police, army and CRPF cordoned off the Tral following “credible inputs” about the presence of militants.
During the course of gunfight, the house in which the militant commander was hiding, was razed to rubble.
Presuming the militant to be dead, they said, a joint team of forces started combing operation to retrieve the body.
However, the Jash-e-Mohammad commander rose from under the debris and fired upon the forces as a result of which a army soldier identified as Ram Kishore was injured, sources said. The injured soldier was airlifted to Army’s Badaminagh hospital and details about his conditions could not be ascertained immediately.
Meanwhile, the fight between the joint team of the forces and the lone militant commander resumed and he was killed later. The slain militant has been identified by police as Adnan of Pakistan.
