AWANTIPORA : The locals of Padgampora village in Awantipora have expressed resentment against Public Health Engineering (PHE) department for failing to restore water filitration plant in the area.

Established in the year 2008, the filtration plant started its working in 2012, at the cost of around 07 crore, to mitigate the water crisis in the area.

The filitration plant is in shambles, according to locals, it all happened due to official negligence.

The locals alleged that filtration plant is open with no cover, due to which bird droppings, dust particles and dead insects accumulate in it.

“The water is dirty and unfit for drinking.Authorities should wake up from slumber and should ensure its sanitation,” a local said.

The locals further said that filtration plant has leakage too which has affected the nearby agricultural land.

They demanded that, filtartion plant should be restored, as early as possible to mitigate the problems of people of Padgampora and its adjacent areas.

Executive Engineer PHE- Mechanical wing, Abdul Rashid said that the department has already sent a proposal to higher ups for the repairing of said filitration plant.

“Once we get funds from higher ups, work shall be started on this project accordingly,” Rashid said.
