Militant killed on a day when his sister was getting married

Sopore: On a day when his sister was getting married, Liyaqat Ahmad Lone, a militant, was killed with his assassociate at Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday. Lone’s brother was married yesterday, local reports said.

Father of two children, Lone, according to local reports, had joined militant ranks on July 7 this year, marking the second anniversary of of Hizb commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani.

A family member of the militant told INS that police informed them about Lone’s killing and they are “going to collect his body.”

As per local reports, Liyaqat son of late Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Lone of Harwan Sopore had announced his joining militant ranks on social media by wielding a gun.  Liyaqat was killed along with his associate, Furqan Ahmad of Hanwara, in the gunfight with joint team of army’s 30 RR,  CRPF’s 92 battalion and SOG at Galoora Langate early on Tuesday.

Meanwhile authorities have snapped internet services in parts of Handwara parts as well as Baramulla as precautionary measure.
