Bovine smuggling bid foiled: 14 animals rescued, driver escapes

Jammu: Police on Monday claimed to have rescued 14 bovine’s and foiled a smuggling bid at Ghagyal of Samba in Jammu. The driver of the vehicle however managed to escape.

According to police spokesman during routine Naka checking at NHW Tapyal ‘signaled to stop a truck bearing regd. No. JK02BM- 9086 which was coming from Kathua side’.

“The driver on seeing the Police Party accelerated the vehicle and tried to escape from the spot. But after being chased by the Police, the driver abandoned the vehicle at NHW Jatwal and managed to escape from the spot. During checking of the vehicle, 14 Bovines were found laden inside the vehicle which were being transported illegally without any permission,” he said.

The vehicle was seized on the spot and all the bovines were rescued.

In this regard a case FIR No. 113/2018 U/S 188/RPC, 2/3 PCA Act, has been registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation is going on.
