Srinagar: A youth was killed and another injured as army opened fire on protesters in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday.  This is the third civilian killing in south Kashmir in last  four days.

Reports said that an army patrol party of 9 RR came under stone pelting near Nowpora Akhran Kulgam. Army opened fired and 2 civilians received bullets, reports said. The injured were shifted to hospital where one of them Aejaz Ahmad Bhat son of Bashir Ahmed Bhat was declared as brought dead. The injured has been identified as Rayees Ahmad son of Ghulam Qadri and he was referred to Srinagar hospital for specialized treatment .

In Pulwama on Friday last, army firing killed one Vikas Ahmad (18) while another teenager Sheeraz Ahmad Naikoo was killed in alleged pellet firing at Anantnag on Eid day even as police claimed that he died because grenade exploded in his hand.
