Militants may strike in Srinagar city, High alert sounded

Srinagar: The counter insurgency grid is on its toes and whole valley has been put on high alert following intelligence inputs that militants might strike in the heart of city in coming days.

Sources inside the security grid told INS that they have been put on high alert and have been ordered to keep ‘highest state of alert’ as militants may try to sneak in city and strike at vital installations in coming days.

According to another sources the signal passed by Police Control Room on to field formations reads that credible intelligence inputs are that militants ‘may carry out attack on vital installations including Tulsibagh, church lane, Gupkar or other installations of Srinagar city’.

They have also been advised to keep ‘highest state of alert around the clock’.

“(Militants may) also attempt to snatch, looting of arms and ammunition, all the fields formations be advised to maintain highest state of alert around the complications round the clock,” reads the signal from PCR to field formations.

Sources disclosed that the recent New Delhi announced Ramadan Ceasefire has pushed militant ranks to a point where they want to create a ‘sensational attack’.

“They were on the run, they had no time to think as we were chasing them. Now since operation has been halted and maximum restraint is being maintained they have been pushed to wall to create a sensational attack to mark their presence,” a senior counter insurgency officer told INS.

He also told that while ‘counter insurgency grid is in know of happenings on field and in their areas  of work, its only time when we will strike them again’.
