The chandigarh district court has held five people guilty for rape including former DSP and former DIG BSF while two have been acquitted including Ex Adv General of the J&K on Wednesday. The quantum of punishment will be pronounced on June 6.
Those who have been held guilty for rape are
Md Ashraf Mir ex DSP, KC Padhi ex DIG, BSF, Shabbir Ahmed Laway, Shabbir Ahmed Langhoo and Masud Ahmed.
Those who have been acquitted are: Mehraj ud din Malik and Anil Sethi, ex advocate general of JnK
The judgment in the infamous 2006 Jammu and Kashmir sex scandal case was pronounced today.
The case had nine accused and four survivors.
Prime accused Sabeena and her husband Abdul Hamid Bulla, allegedly ran a brothel in Srinagar, who died during the trial. The police questioned the minors, including the alleged kingpin, Sabeena. After questioning them, the police gathered names of 56 people allegedly involved in the scandal, the report said
The case was transferred to the CBI in May 2006 after names of two J&K ministers, MLAs and other influential men emerged in the case. The Supreme Court shifted the trial to Chandigarh in the same year.
The minors were forced into prostitution and were supplied to top police officials, bureaucrats, politicians and even to militants who had surrendered. They were paid between Rs 250 to Rs 500 in return.
