Anantnag: Slain police cop who was shot dead by suspected militants at Bijbehara yesterday left family  shattered as hundreds of people rushed to slain cops home to mourning.

The 23 year old Bilal Ahmad s/o Mohd Abbas Shah R/O Malikpora Verinag Anantnag was lone bread winner of his family, the whole community and family is completely shattered as the lone son of Mohd Abbas killed at Bijbehara yesterday.

We received a call yesterday afternoon who told us that Bilal injured in Bijbehara attack and you come to Bijbehara Hospital after reached there somebody told us there go to police line Anantnag police take him there after reached there I saw my son was dead. Said his father Mohd Abbas.

Inside the small two-storey house is Bilal’s devastated mother Saleema Bano, along with her neighbor women consoling her by saying “Keep patience, Bilal has gone to meet his Lord?” Nobody in the house is speaking amid the cries of Bilal’s parents and neighbors.

Bilal was lone son of his parents and was survived by his parents elder sister and Grandmother.

His father Mohd Abbas Shah was a labour. After Bilal got this job two years back “All the responsibilities of his family were on Bilal’s shoulders,” says his neighbour.

According to his neighbors Bilal supported his family. “He would bear the expenditure of medicines of his parents and studies of his sister,” his neighbors said.

They said he was working hard to construct a new house and was trying his best to take his family out of hardships.

The whole village is in a state of shock. On yesterday evening, Bilal was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard at Malikpora Veerinag. Hundreds of people participated in his funeral, amid tears.
