Pulwama: Multiple rounds of funeral payers were held for slain Hizbul Mujahideen militants, Sameer Tiger and Aqib Ahmed, in their native villages of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.
Thousands of people participated in the multiple-funeral prayers of top Hizb militant Sameer Tiger in Drubgam his native village.
According to locals almost eleven funeral prayers were held for Sameer Tiger.
“Six funeral prayers happened Monday evening and 5 funeral prayers were held today,” locals said.
For another slain militant Aqib Mushtaq, killed alongside Sameer, multiple funeral prayers with thousands participating were held in his native village Rajpora as well.
Sloganeering reverberated at both the places with people raising Pro Pakistan, Pro freedom and anti India slogans.
According to locals Women too joined the processions of the slain militants sang eulogies hailing the ‘martyrs’.
Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed across Kashmir to mourn the civilian and militant killings.
Director General of Police SP Vaid in his tweet after the anti militancy operation in Drubgam was over on Monday confirmed death of the top HM commander Sameer Tiger and said that he believed that his killings ‘should bring peace’ .
The duo were killed in a six hour long gunfight that erupted early morning.
One civilian was killed after he succumbed to injuries he received during clashes around the encounter site after protesters tried to break the forces cordon to save the holed up militants.
Two army men including a Major ranking officer suffered injuries in the gunfight.

Both the slain militants were later buried amid emotionally charged atmosphere and intense sloganeering.
