NEW DELHI: Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh, today met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari to discuss various issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir.
The Deputy Chief Minister in his meeting with the Rajnath Singh discussed security situation in the State. He briefed the Home Minister about the prevailing situation in the State, particularly in the Valley and border areas. He also conveyed to Singh about the steps being taken by the State Government for sustainment of peace in the Valley.
During his meeting with Nitin Gadkari, Dr Singh raised the issue of development and upgradation of highways including Ladakh-Zanaskar, Udhampur-Banihal and Lakhanpur-Mahanpur-Basohli-Dunera roads. Besides the status of work on Jammu-Akhnoor 4-lanning being undertaken under the Prime Minister’s package was also discussed.
Dr. Singh also called for undertaking the necessary measures for connecting Kishtwar with Zanaskar area through all weather road so that the areas get connected with each other.
The Deputy Chief Minister further impressed upon the Union Minister over accelerating the process of funding pattern under Central Road Fund (CRF).
Later, he also called upon the Union Finance & Defense Minister Arun Jaitely and sought timely release of funds under various components of Prime Minister’s Development Programme. The Dy CM also stressed for broadening the ambit of special recruitment in armed forces to every part of the State, especially the border areas.
