No doctor, according to protesters, was available till 11 am.

“My sister was referred  from krapolra hospital to kupwara for emergency  delivery case, not a single medical employee visited us. We were forced to take her on shoulder to get injected,” an attendant said.

According to him he had to carry her sister on shoulders thrice for a check-up.

“Not a single employee visited her in labour room for check up and they gave her injection and till morning she was unconscious till morning,” he claimed.

Another attendant said that they have been waiting for doctors since morning but all the OPD rooms closed.

“I along with other attendants visited BMOs  office, even his office was locked, no one was present there,” he said.

President civil society Kupwara Showkat Masoodi told INS that many of the ‘doctors give preference to private practices’.

“They attend  their offices late while people coming from far flung areas suffer at the doors of hospital,” Masoodi said.

Few months back a team of CM’s grievance cell and state health minster visited  the hospital after two injured persons had to leave the hospital for their was no doctor present at the medical facility.

“They had assured that there will be change in the hospital functioning but nothing happened,” Masoodi added.

“We have  shortage of staff members, and if the  protesters allegations  prove right stern action will be taken against the staff member,” BMO  Kupwara, Dr Fareed Shaheen Chowdhary claimed.
