Govt orders time-bound inquiry into illegal use of forest land by PMGSY officers, officials in Reasi

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered a time-bound inquiry into the use of over 52 kanals of Forest land at Reasi for construction of road by the officers and officials of PMGSY in “violation” of the J&K Forest Conservation Act.
“Sanction is hereby accorded to the appointment of Kifayat Hussain Rizvi, IAS, Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, Labour & Employment Department as Inquiry Officer to enquire into the use of 2.635 hectares (52.08 kanals) of Forest land for construction of road from Krn 15 to Narla in Reasi Forest Division by the officers/officials of PMGSY in violation of the J&K Forest (Conservation) Act, 1997,” reads an order issued by government.
The Inquiry Officer has been asked to submit his report within a period of one month. The government has also asked the Forest, Environment & Ecology Department to provide all the requisite records and assistance to the Inquiry Officer.
