Srinagar: As the situation continues to deteriorate in the Kashmir Valley, Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi met Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Governor N N Vohra Thursday to discuss the prevailing fragile situation.
Mehrishi who arrived here in the forenoon met Mehbooba at her residence at Gupkar and Vohra at Raj Bhavan.
“The Union Home Secretary discussed the overall situation in the State with the Chief Minister,” an official statement issued to KNS said.
“The Governor and the Home Secretary held extensive discussions about issues relating to effective maintenance of law and order. They also discussed matters relating to the security situation along the IB and LoC, increasing attempts at infiltration and growing incidence of terrorism in the Valley,” said another statement.
The visit follows a day after a Kashmiri army officer was abducted from a marriage function and killed in Shopian district.
Ummer Fayaz Parray, 22, a resident of Sarsuna village in Kulgam district, was commissioned as Liteunant in December 2016 and was posted with RAJRIF unit in Akhnoor. (KNS)
