Militants attack SSP, ASP Shopian, search operation launched

Shopian: Senior Superintendent of Police and additional superintendent of Police Shopian were Saturday attacked by militants at Haram Hajipora area of Shopian district. Both escaped unheard.

Sources said that the vehicle carrying Ssp Shri Ram Amberkar and ASP Ifroz Ahmad received multiple gunshots.

According to sources the Police party was moving towards Bihi Bagh to attend a function but were fired upon by militants at Haram Haji pora area.

“The officer was scheduled to attend flag in ceremony organized by army’s 34 RR at Behibagh in neighbouring Kulgam district,” sources said.

The police party retaliated fire and escaped unhurt. “The officers are safe and search operation has been launched in the area,” sources said.
