Srinagar: The number of militants killed in the gunfight between militants and government forces at Balhama area of Khanmoh has reached three after body of a third militant was found on Saturday.

According to police while concluding the search and sanitation of the operation site, body of the third militant identified as Hamas, was recovered from the debris.

“The police started a sanitisation operation in which the area was to be cleared of any unexploded shells, mines after the encounter ended,” police said in a statement.

The area was sealed to carry out further searches ‘on cooling of rubbles immediately after the encounter ended to ensure no damage is caused by any explosive material left over at the encounter site.’

Bodies of two militants Owais Ahmad of Nowdal Tral and Shabir Ahmad of Aghanjipora Awantipora, were recovered from the encounter site on Friday, after an attack on BJP leader was mounted.

Meanwhile complete shutdown for second consecutive day is being observed in in Tral and Awantipora areas against the killing of the militants. All the Shops, business establishments, and other institutions remained closed. Traffic remains off the roads.
