Shopian killing aftermath: Govt decides to keep educational Inst shut till 7

Srinagar: To avoid ‘law and order’ situation Government on Monday decided that schools and colleges will remain closed till Wednesday and will stuart functioning from Thursday.

Minister for Education Syed Muhammad Altaf Bukhari told media that the educational institutions will resume functioning from Thursday, and the decision has been taken as a “precautionary measure” to avoid “law and order situation”.

The decision to keep educational institutions closed comes in the wake of killing of six persons in Shopian by government forces.

Four civilians and two militants were killed after, army claimed that a naka party came under fire which was retaliated killing militants along with ‘over ground workers’.

One militant body and three civilians were found on the evening of Sunday. However two more bodies, of a militant and a civilians were found on Monday morning.

Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti however took to twitter and regretting ‘civilian’ killing saying that they were caught in ‘cross fire’.

A valley wide shutdown was observed on Monday over the killing.
