Srinagar, May 09: Reacting over the statement of Mehbooba Mufti wherein she termed J&K as the “crown and soul” of India, the incarcerated chairman of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) Shabir Ahmad Shah on Tuesday termed it rhetoric.
Shah in a statement to KNS said not a single head is safe in the region which is coined as “crown” of India. He said such statements are issued to mislead the world opinion.
Shah said the “crown” is witnessing continuous bloodshed by the hands of occupational forces where people’s eyesight is snatched, women’s chastity violated, and leaders put behind bars for years. “This crown is a slave and we’re struggling to restore its glory,” he said.
The DFP chairman said if Kashmir is a crown of India then why is its media spewing venom against it and channels banned in this region. “Why are forces given a free hand to deal with people of this “crown”, every kind of freedom choked, and youth arrested and subjected to third degree torture,” he said.
Shabir Ahmad Shah termed it unfortunate the ban on social media and several TV channels and said the move tantamount to curbing of the right to freedom and expression.
Shah said the propaganda unleashed by Indian media against Kashmir hasn’t even spared the people associated with medical profession. He was referring to a Chandigarh-based doctor who refused to treat a Kashmiri patient.
“If such incidents keep continuing, it will jeopardise the integrity of India,” Shah said.
