Srinagar, May 09: Terming the statement of Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti where she called Kashmir the crown of India as ‘ridiculous’, chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik Tuesday said that Jammu Kashmir is ‘an occupied territory’ and the people of Kashmir are striving for their freedom and self determination from last 70 years.
In a statement issued to KNS, Malik said that Kashmir is not crown of any nation but disputed territories whose inhabitants were pledged by Indian leaders and the international community of right of self determination and who are striving for the same from last many decades.
“The Chief Minister is talking of democracy, freedom, human rights and many other things but seems to forget about the blanket ban that she and her government have imposed on media, internet, social media, peaceful political activities, student protests and other basic human rights in Kashmir,” he said.
He said that “the height of brazenness is such that the rulers and their authorities who have trampled every decency, ethics and democracy are talking of the same that too without any shame.”
While reacting to the statement of police terming student protests as sponsored and paid, JKLF chairman said that “one who goes blind in spring sees only greenery” and similarly “people who only follow caprice and orders of the others and unleash tyranny and oppression on peaceful people only see things through the prism of money, bribe, oppression and sponsorships.”
He said that this ostrich like approach of Indian leadership, the state government and ‘occupational authorities’ can never disparage or discourage Kashmiris who with one voice are asking for their freedom and self determination and are rendering valuable sacrifices for it.
Terming the attacks on students at Lal Chowk Srinagar, Pulwama and other places especially assaulting girl students and arresting many more as ‘state sponsored terrorism of worst kind’, JKLF chairman said that “after calling the protests of innocent students as paid and issuing provocative and derogatory statements about them, police today thrashed students especially girl students with utmost brazenness and demonstrated their “bravery” on innocent girls who were staging peaceful protest against the arrest of their fellow students and also against the ridiculous and absurd police propaganda against their peaceful protests.”
