Srinagar: The Contingent Paid Workers (CPWs) of education department on Monday staged protest demonstration here at Directorate Office, appealing the education minister Altaf Bukhari to fulfill their demands including regularization.
Shouting slogans, the CPWs working as sweepers, watchmen and cooks in different government schools assembled here inside the premises of Directorate Office and held protests pressing for redressal of their grievances.
“About 4400 posts are lying vacant in the department for the last four years and only 60 employees were regularized till now,” the protesters said.
“We have been discharging the duties in schools on a meager monthly salary of rupees twenty five. The government should either ensure our regularization or start engaging people to perform the duties that we have been discharging over the years,” CPW president, Mudasir Ahmed said.
