Tral: The residents of Aripal tehsil in Tral sub division of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district protested against authorities for failing to provide power receiving station despite assuring the same five years ago.
“Five years have passed but no receiving station was installed,” the residents said. “25 villages of the tehsil are suffering.”
They said despite repeated request, authorities are turning off their eyes. “We even proposed to provide our land for the installation of power station but no concrete step was taken.”
“We are fed up of frequent curtailments. For the last five years, government has been assuring us that it will install power station in the area to avoid unscheduled power cuts and other technical snags, but nothing has been done on ground,” a group of locals told INS.
When contacted, the MLA Tral Mushtaq Ahmad Shah said, “DPR is already made for the receiving stations and we assure that under ‘Deen Dayal’ scheme, two receiving stations will be given to Aripal and Lalpora areas for the betterment of power supply.”
