Srinagar: The government imposed restrictions within the territorial jurisdictions of seven police stations affected life in Srinagar on Sunday. The curbs were imposed in wake of 28th anniversary of Gaw Kadal massacre in which about 55 civilians were shot dead by paramilitary forces in Gaw Kadal Srinagar when people were protesting against alleged molestation of women.
According to the District Magistrate Srinagar, Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, the restrictions have been imposed as a “precautionary measure” to avoid any untoward incident.
The areas where ‘complete restrictions’ under Section 144 CrPC have been imposed fall within the jurisdiction of Khanyar, Rainawari, Nowhatta, Safakadal, MR Gunj, Maisuma and Kralkhud police stations.
