Tral: Stray dogs bite around a dozen people, Hospital lacks anti-rabies vaccine

Tral : Sub district hospital Tral is facing acute short of anti-rabies vaccines (ARV) as in last three days around a dozen people were bitten by the stray dogs here.
As per the sources, most of the victims were shifted to another hospitals for the medical treatment as Tral’s own hospital lacks anti-rabies vaccine to undertake dog bite cases.
Reports said that, stray dogs have unleashed terror in Nagabal and Doodmarg areas of Tral, and have bitten around a dozen people there, who “faced a lot of problems” even after travelling to Sub district hospital as “no vaccine was available there”
“Tral hospital is always leaving us dismayed. The hospital is already having many issues in the form doctors and staff members shortage. Now, lack of anti-rabies vaccine is the matter of serious concern,” said a local, appealing the authorities to make availability of this life saving injection in the hospital.
Pertinently, around 250 dog bite cases were reported at Tral in the year 2018, as per the official record, with no end to this menace as dog bites are going on with full pace.
In-charge Block Medical Officer Tral, Dr. Virender Singh, when contacted, told INS that, he has already informed higher officials of the department, who inturn told him “to purchase it from market”
“On the directions of CMO, we have purchased the said vaccine from the market till the vaccines will be made available in the hospital,” Singh Said.
Meanwhile, locals have expressed resentment over the shortage of anti-rabies vaccines in the hospital and demanded immediate availability of it.
