Burglar who tried to break open Jamia safe held in Ganderbal

Ganderbal: Police on Monday said it arrested a burglar who had tried to break open the safe of a Jamia Masjid Gund here.
A police officer said that a complaint was received that during the night hours, an attempt was made by unknown person(s) to commit theft in Jamia Masjid Gund.
“The unknown theive(s) tried to break open the safe of the masjid however the attempt was unsuccessful.”
He said the CCTV cameras installed in the masjid as well as the recording equipment were found damaged and a television set attached to the CCTV cameras was found stolen.
In this regard, he said, a case (FIR No 35/2017) was registered in Police Station Gund and investigation was started.
“During the course of investigation Zahoor Ahmad Yatoo son of Sanaullah Yatoo of Yechama Kangan involved in the theft was arrested. The stolen television set was also recovered in a broken state,” the officer added.
