DSEK plans to add 9 new subjects in curriculum

Srinagar: Mass communication, tourism management, rural development and public administration are among nine subjects which the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) plans to introduce at Higher Secondary level across the Kashmir Valley.
The department has also formulated 438 posts of teachers for teaching the subjects which will be advertised after the proposal is granted sanction by the government.
The nine subjects include mass communication, tourism management, rural development, public administration, library science, bio-resources, buddhist studies, business administration and fisheries.
The subjects of Fisheries and Rural Development have been allocated 30 posts each while the Buddhist Studies has received 20 posts and Library Science, Bio-resources, and Business Administration would get 30 posts each.
Mass Communication has been allocated 40 posts while Public Administration has been allocated 188 posts which were going to be highest among the new subjects. For Tourism Management 40 posts have been allocated.
Confirming the development, a top officer of the DSEK said that the proposal will be sent to the government by the end of this week.
He said that the proposal was formulated after deliberations with the chief education officers of all districts.
