Srinagar: Rajinder Kumar Bhumbla, DIG SHQ (Spl. Ops) SSB Srinagar (J&K) was awarded with President Police Medal for his distinguished service by home minister Rajnath Singh on the eve of 54th raising day of Sashastra Seema Bal at New Delhi on Saturday, 23 December 2017.
“Bhumbla joined SSB in December 1987 as an Assistant Commandant,” a PIB statement issued here said. “He has remained an upright and dedicated officer and has served in most difficult and sensitive areas of WB, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Uttarakhand and J&K where his contributions towards the organisation had been exemplary and appreciable.”
Kumar rendered his service in NSG from 1994 to 1998 and from 2002 to 2007 where he actively imparted training to Indian Army/CAPF and foreign trainees in training centre NSG. “He was involved in training of Indian hockey team for mental and physical toughness and accompanied the team on foreign tours to Egypt and Malaysia fir prestigious international tournaments,” the statement said.
Presently, Rajinder Kumar Bhumbla is posted as Dy Inspector General SHQ SSB (Spl.Ops) Srinagar (J&K) and supervising units of SSB deployed for performing CI (Ops) and law & order duty in J&K. He hails from village Tibba Nagal of district Ropar in Punjab.
