Srinagar: Irked over frequent and long power cuts Khrew village of Pampore in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district Monday observed a complete shutdown against the Power Development Department (PDD).

Shabir Ahmad, general secretary Jamia Auqaf e Islamia Khrew told INS that the area faces 15-hour-long power cuts daily.

“The receiving station supplies continuous electricity to crushers around the area but residents have to reel under darkness,” Shabbir claimed.

The protesters said that they have been forced to hold shutdown as they have been regularly speaking to authorities who have turned deaf ears to public problems’.

“If this issue is not resolved soon we will block the highway,” Shabir said.
