Srinagar:The opposition National Conference on Friday termed the Government of India’s special representative for Kashmir, Dineshwar Sharma as a low rung official having no mandate to resolve decades old Kashmir conflict.

The party has stated that Sharma’s appointment was made by the government of India in a bid to belittle the importance of Kashmir issue and hoodwink the world that it is taking measures for sustainable peace in Kashmir.

NC additional general secretary Sheikh Mustafa Kamal in a statement said, “Who is Dineshwar Sharma, a retired government official. Do you think that he has a stature to resolve the issue which is at the United Nations?,”

He further added, “It is nothing but a mockery going on. It reveals nonsensical attitude of the government of India towards Kashmir. Mr Sharma says he will talk to roadside vendors-is this some kind of a joke?”

Kamal added that Sharma has no stature when it comes to the previous interlocutors who came to Kashmir and submitted their reports.
