When woman boards bus, vacate the seat reserved for her, traffic police

SRINAGAR:  71 drivers of buses and mini buses have been challaned for not ensuring the occupation of seats reserved for women passengers in public transport.

“A fine to the tune of Rs. 14200/- have been collected from these 71 violators,” According to SSP Traffic, Srinagar, Tahir Saleem.

The officials on Sunday claimed that the special drive shall continue and if the driver is found violating the orders repeatedly, the route permit of his vehicle shall be recommended for suspension.

 “General public is also appealed to offer the seats reserved for women to the women passengers in buses / mini buses in public transport. In case women are not travelling in the bus / mini bus, the seat may be occupied by the male passengers who shall vacate these seats in case of any women boards, the said vehicle en-route,” Saleem said.
