Cold waves continues in Kashmir, rain or snow likely from Dec 11

Srinagar: Cold wave continued in Kashmir with the night temperature remaining several degrees below the freezing point.
Srinagar, recorded a low of minus 3.3 degrees Celsius, up by notches from the previous night’s minimum of minus 3.8C, this season’s coldest night.
A meteorological official told INS on Wednesday that the summer capital of the state was the third coldest recorded place in the Valley after Gulmarg and Pahalgam. While the world famous ski-resort of Gulmarg remained recorded a low of minus 4.5 degrees Celsius, Pahalgam, the hill resort, which serves as a base camp for the annual Amarnath Yatra, recorded minimum of minus 4.4 degrees Celsius—similar to what it recorded 24 hours earlier.
The mercury in Qazigund—the gateway town to Kashmir Valley—settled at a low of minus 3.2 degrees Celsius—down from minus 2.8 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.
The official said the north Kashmir Kupwara recorded a low of minus 3.2 degrees Celsius, against minus 5.1 degrees Celsius the previous night. He said Kokernag town of south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 1.4 degrees Celsius.
Leh, in Ladakh region, remained the coldest place in the State, registering a low of minus 11 degrees Celsius, exactly same as previous night.
The weatherman has predicted rain or snow in most parts of the Valley from December 11.
