JAMMU, DECEMBER 03: The Department of Libraries and Research is organizing special Career Counseling programmes at Srinagar and Jammu for 12th class students who usually find themselves at the crossroads while planning for professional studies.

“The career counseling for students of Jammu region will be held on 6 December 2017 from 10 am to 4 pm at Teachers Bhawan Gandhi Nagar Jammu while for the students from Kashmir, the counseling would be held on 7 December 2017 from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm at Convocation Hall, University of Kashmir Hazratbal Srinagar,” said Director Libraries & Research, Mr Mukhtar-ul-Aziz who is himself coordinating the unique initiative by his Department.

He said free transport facility for the students from Kashmir to ferry them to the Kashmir University campus would be available outside Mechanical Parking, Lal Chowk upto 9.30 am on the day of counseling that is 7 December 2017.

Mukhtar-ul-Aziz said there will be two sessions of counseling. He said in the forenoon session, which is open to both the students and the parents, the Career Counseling experts would enlighten about the career options available to the students of 12th class. “The students and the parents will be introduced to latest job-oriented and rewarding courses available in various colleges. They will be also counseled about the colleges, procedure for admission and other related issues while planning for future studies,” he said and added in the afternoon session, the students intending to appear for forthcoming NEET and JEE shall be counseled about how to crack these exams.

He said the unique career counseling programme is being organized by the Directorate of Libraries and Research in collaboration with Indian Public Library Movement (IPLM), Career Counseling Cell, University of Kashmir, Mindler Delhi and Plancess Mumbai. “The counseling will be conducted by IIT toppers including Prateek Bhargav, CEO Mindler, Prikshit Danda, a leading Professional Career Counselor in the country trained from Harvard University, Supriya Dhanda, Anoop Panday, CEO Plances) and Ranjit Gakaray, Professional Counselor for IIT and Medical Aspirants.

Mukhtar-ul-Aziz said this is a unique initiative from Directorate of Libraries after identifying the students’ needs. He said the Directorate of Libraries is planning to provide individualized handholding to select group of students for one year and assist them individually in planning their career.
