Addressing the closing ceremony of ‘Pedal Through Paradise 2026’ at the Police Golf Course on the banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar, the Lieutenant Governor highlighted the importance of sports in promoting physical fitness, discipline, teamwork and a healthy lifestyle among young people.

Congratulating the participants and winners of the cycling event, Sinha said such initiatives provide a valuable platform for young people to showcase their talent, build confidence and channel their energy towards constructive and productive activities.

The Lieutenant Governor said sports contribute significantly to the overall development of young people by instilling discipline, determination, teamwork and a sense of responsibility.

He observed that greater participation in sporting activities can help youth remain focused on their goals, adopt healthier lifestyles and make meaningful contributions to society.

Sinha also appreciated the Jammu and Kashmir Police for organising initiatives that extend beyond conventional policing and focus on public engagement, social harmony and youth participation.

Referring to programmes such as ‘Jashn-e-Dal’ and ‘Pedal Through Paradise’, he said such initiatives promote hope, confidence and discipline while encouraging young people to engage positively with their communities.

Emphasising the role of young people in the region’s development, Sinha said youth are not merely the future of Jammu and Kashmir but also a significant force in its present progress.

He noted that achievements by young people in sports, innovation and entrepreneurship reflect their potential to contribute to the region’s overall growth.

The Lieutenant Governor called for sustained efforts to create more opportunities for youth to develop their skills, pursue their ambitions and participate actively in social and developmental initiatives.

Expressing concern over the growing challenge of drug abuse, the Lieutenant Governor stressed the need for a sustained and collective effort involving families, communities and young people to protect society from addiction.

He urged youth to make responsible choices, remain vigilant against substance abuse and adopt healthy habits, while underscoring the importance of awareness campaigns and community participation in addressing the problem.

Sinha also emphasised that individuals struggling with addiction must be treated with compassion, understanding and support rather than being subjected to social stigma.

He said society has an important role in helping affected individuals overcome addiction, recover and rebuild their lives with dignity.

The Lieutenant Governor reiterated that creating a safe, healthy and positive environment for young people requires the active participation of all sections of society.

He called for greater youth engagement in sports, constructive activities and nation-building initiatives, stating that the enthusiasm and commitment of young people are essential for Jammu and Kashmir’s continued development.

The closing ceremony of ‘Pedal Through Paradise 2026’ highlighted the importance of sports, youth empowerment and collective social responsibility in promoting a healthier society and strengthening efforts towards a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.
